WoW Classic breaks 1 million viewers

World of Warcraft Classic is now here and it seems like some fans have tuned Twitch to capture some of the new school WoW styles in action. Last week, WoW viewers simultaneously reached a large number of streaming platforms, with more than 1.1 million active viewers on Twitch. Now, the total amount of time viewers have spent watching WoW on the platform since the Classic was released has jumped - already more than 55 million hours.

According to a report by The Esports Observer, WoW Classic is on track to take over The International 2019 and post the most watched week of 2019 on Twitch. Dota 2 had 34 million hours watched last week thanks to TI9, which surpassed the record set by Apex Legends in February. Blizzard's latest release is second with 32.7 million hours watched this week, while Apex Legends is the only other game to break 30 million in 2019. Besides having 55 million hours of viewing in almost a week, the average number of Classic viewers is around 380,000. To put it in a perspective that is more similar to the number of viewers, you will expect to see from Fortnite as a whole or the main League of Legends event. Aside from the anticipation from the WoW community, part of the reason for the big jump could be thanks to several streaming game names.

If Shroud praises the game and the community tells us nothing about Classic WoW, it appeals to a variety of different gamers. One thing that keeps retail WoW from getting new players is the incredible expansion and existing systems. Classic is an opportunity to start the Azeroth adventure from scratch.
